Verizon's PopData allows you to purchase unlimited data 30 minutes at a time

Unlimited data has been available for subscribers at three out of the four major U.S. carriers. The lone exception was Verizon; the nation’s largest carrier even went as far as removing unlimited data for those grandfathered in with older plans. But Big Red is now offering a new pay-as-you-go unlimited data plan called PopData.

With PopData, Verizon subscribers can purchase 30-minutes or 60-minutes of unlimited 4G LTE data depending on network availability. The half hour option will cost you $2 and the hour of unlimited data will cost $3. Verizon subscribers will find the cost of any PopData session charged to their Verizon account.

You must have a 4G LTE signal in order to use PopData, and it can be quickly ordered from the My Verizon app. Tap on the hamburger menu on the upper left corner. Click on Data Hub and tap on «Get more data.» Click on PopData. The service is available on iOS and Android devices and notifications will be pushed out to remind you when your session comes to an end.

Verizon says that PopData provides a faster, more secure connection than a public Wi-Fi hotspot. If you need to download a large file and don’t want to end up paying Verizon for a data overage, keep PopData in mind.
