FLASH: This is a special announcement for developers of custom watch faces for Android watches and the fans who love them.

An entire new ‘class’ of round Android 5.1 smart watch phones was unveiled today with the arrival of the very first unit in a long line of watches soon to hit the market. The engineering prototype of the FINOW X1 upgrade watch (not yet named) is examined for its ability to host custom watch faces.

Up until now, only the Android 4.4 round watches and the square Android 5.1 watches would allow display of custom watch faces. The common implementation of Android 5.1 on larger screen watches like the IQI I2, Kingwear KW88, Zeblaze Blitz and ZGPAX S99 will not allow custom watch faces.

Would FINOW’s leap into Android 5.1 follow the path of their square Q1 watch, or align with the ‘industry standard’ brand seen on all the other Android 5.1 round watches.

This special announcement provides a real life demo and what it means for the future of custom watch face creation.
