Samsung’s SM-W2017 is a high-end Android powered clamshell that combines an older form factor with modern features and software. This morning, we have discovered that the phone, code named ‘Veyron,’ has been certified in China by TENAA. Earlier this month, the phone was cleared by the FCC in the U.S. With these two tasks completed, we now expect Samsung to unveil the phone on November 3rd.

The device carries a 4,2-inch Super AMOLED screen with a 1080 x 1920 resolution (FHD). A Snapdragon 820 SoC is under the hood with a quad-core 2.15GHz CPU, and the Adreno 530 GPU. 4GB of RAM is inside, along with 64GB of native storage. Those seeking additional storage can access the 256GB capacity microSD slot. A 12MP rear-facing camera is on board with a front-facing 5MP camera handling selfies and video chats. There is a fingerprint scanner available to unlock the phone and verify identity, and a 2300mAh battery keeps the lights on. Android 6.0.1 is pre-installed, and the unit features support for Samsung Pay.

We should learn more about the SM-W2017, including pricing and availability, in about a couple of weeks. If any of you miss that satisfying feeling that you get when hanging up on a call made on a clamshell phone, stay tuned. By the way, we do need to tell you that for some reason, TENAA did not include the usual pictures of the device with its documentation, so we are including some older pictures for you to look at.
