With Samsung busily trying to round up potentially explosive Galaxy Note 7 units the world over, the company has also been dogged by reports that its other devices — from the Galaxy S7 edge to the ageing Galaxy Note 2 — have similar problems. Given that rival Apple is currently amid the launch of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus, the Korean firm’s plight could not have been more ill-timed. A photo spotted on Reddit may just allow the folks at Sammy a wry smile, however, for yes — it’s a crispy, charred iPhone 7.

Galaxy Note 7 devices have been catching fire left and right whilst on charge but according to Redditor kroopthesnoop, his matte black iPhone 7 exploded before it even arrived at his door. The device, as you can see up close by clicking the image above, bears the oh-so-familiar look of a burnt handset, but without the typical Samsung branding.

At this point, there aren’t too many details to go along with the image. When asked by a fellow Reddit user for some kind of backstory, kroopthesnoop replied:

I’m not certain, but something happened between the factory and delivery

As you may notice, the inside packaging also seemed to take a hit but the box, in general, looks remarkably intact given the state of the iPhone.

We’ll take this with a pinch of salt for now, particularly given the scarcity of any details. This is apparently the first incident of an exploding iPhone 7, so owners needn’t worry too much for now. We will, however, keep our eyes peeled for any further developments.
