Modular, replaceable… does that mean upgradibility is possible?

With some purpose built parts there a chance it’s possible.

Probably not. Modular means that it’s replaceable. To be upgradeable, someone have to make a newer part for that phone to begin with. And the part must be suitable with the current design. Even if you can find something newer that uses the same connector, chances are, it wont fit into the original part’s location(might be too thick or simply can’t fit at all). And then there’s the software counterpart that needed to be modified. This is the least impossible part though. Technically, almost all phones have some modular parts, it’s just that nobody are making newer component for older phones, except for those phones that were designes to be modular(fairphone etc). Why would they when they can just make you buy a new phone.

Yeah, your biggest obstacle would probably be ribbon cable connections. I tried to build a frankenphone before and that was my issue. And I was just trying to put 5c parts in a 5s (or vice versa, don’t remember.

So if I wanted to take it to warranty can I take it to an HTC service center?
