The Blu Life One X2 is a follow up to Blu’s previous top selling phone. The phone feels nicer than its $199 price suggests, with a beautiful 1080p display protected by Gorilla Glass. It also comes equipped with 4GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage — generous specifications for a low end smartphone.

Performance feels decent on the device. It’s not as fast on benchmarks as compared to phones like the OnePlus 3 (that costs twice as much) but is more than adequate for a bulk of the Android apps currently available on the Android app store.

The phone’s biggest weakness is the camera. Still images are ok — the 16 megapixel sensor records a lot of detail. But it lacks the software magic to enhance the images off the sensor. Video is a bigger problem with lots of compression artifacts, over saturated colors and no stabilization.

The phone is powered with Android M / 6.0 Marshmallow. This version of Android is being replaced by Android 7 Nougat that was released just recently. I do not anticipate Blu offering a software update in the future. M is good for now but may not be 2-3 years from now.

Gripes aside this is an excellent value for casual smartphone users or parents looking for an inexpensive phone to equip their kids with. It’s more than adequate for most Android apps and offers very snappy and responsive performance.
