Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10 confirmed to arrive at T-Mobile with free VR headset

It’s no surprise that Alcatel plans to introduce a high-end Windows 10 smartphone in the United States. However, there are many details that we don’t know about like the release date of the phone, as well as the price tag.

We also believe that Alcatel might launch the smartphone in two variations, so customers can choose either Android or Windows 10 Mobile, but that’s an assumption based on the latest leaks.

Today, we’ve received more information about Alcatel’s upcoming Windows 10 smartphone. First of all, the device will be launched via T-Mobile, but it won’t be called Alcatel Idol 4 Pro. Instead, the Magenta carrier will sell the smartphone as Alcatel Idol 4S with Windows 10.

A picture of the packaging confirms the new name of the smartphone, as well as the fact that it will also contain a free VR headset. Both the smartphone and the VR headset will be included in the same sales package.

Specs-wise, we’ve been reporting in the last couple of weeks that Alcatel Idol 4S looks like a flagship device on paper. If previous rumors are accurate, the Idol 4S with Windows 10 should pack a powerful quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 processor inside, along with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal memory, which can be further expanded via microSD card.

The smartphone should also boast an impressive 21-megapixel rear-facing camera and a 12-megapixel camera in the front. Keep in mind though that these specs haven’t been confirmed yet, so take it with a grain of salt.

The Android version of the Alcatel Idol 4S launched in the US months ago has much lower specs than the Windows 10 model. The Android-powered handset packs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 652 processor, 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal memory. It also sports a 5.5-inch QHD display, 16-megapixel rear camera and 8-megapixel selfie camera.

We expect T-Mobile and Alcatel to unveil the Idol 4S with Windows 10 in the next couple of weeks, but more info on the smartphone might emerge online until then, so stay tuned.
